System Thread Exception Not Handling is an error which is more common in windows 7,8 and 10. Because this problem will occur only when your system handler is unable to handle an error. And if the error causes then it will immediately shutdown your computer and displays an Blue screen showing an System Thread Exception Not Handling. And this error is also called the blue screen of death. If your system handler is unable to handle the error then it will throw it and mostly this error occurs while booting the operating system or while working with it. If your system finds the system thread exception not handling error then your system will immediately shut down to hold the thread making damage to your system.

The system thread exception not handling error will occur when there is an error caused due to the driver or because of the outdated version of the operating system. Something this BSoD error takes when you recently installed some program and also if there is an overclocked tweak. And there are some easy solutions provided below to fix to solve this BSoD error. 

Sometimes the System thread exception not handled error will represent the attached file which will help you to know which name of the driver is causing an issue and then after it can be easily solved by updating or repairing the driver. But some of the files that have been repeatedly reported by the users commonly so by the following we will help you to solve the issue made by these drivers. 

  1. Atikmdag.sys

This Graphics driver file is related to the ATI video card and which comes in the ATI Radeon family. If you’re getting installed with an AMD graphics card in your PC and if suppose the driver is an outdated version or not supporting your PC then the file will result in getting this type of BSoD error.

  1. Nvlddmkm.sys

This Graphics driver is related to the Nvidia video card and when you’re installed in your PC and later which if the driver is outdated or not supporting your PC then it will result in getting this type of BSoD error. 

  1. Dxgmms2.sys

This file is relevant to your DirectX drivers which are installed in your PC.

  1. Ntfs.sys

The file found in Windows NT Server and this file is relevant to the wireless adaptor driver which is created by the Broadcom corporation. When there is any mistake in the installation process or outdated version then it will return a System thread exception not handled error.

Getting Trouble with Access the OS 

If you turn on the safe mode in your PC then your drivers will get disabled and which is not required to proceed windows. Now you need to boot your PC to safe mode and you’re going to split the reboot loop which you’re necessarily stuck inside and so you need to boot to windows recovery Environment before the safe mode.

Now you need to press the power button and hold it for 10 second to shut down your PC and after you need to turn it on. Just repeat the process until you’re getting into the windows recovery environment. And we were trying to push your PC to Repair/Advanced mode. 

To switch your PC to safe mode from the windows recovery environment then do the following steps. 

  • Firstly, you need to click the Troubleshoot option and followed by click Advanced option and click on Startup settings finally click restart. 
  • And once your PC restarts which will show you a list of options and it would be the best option to press F5 for safe mode with networking to start.  

If you’re getting trouble with the above mentioned method then there is an alternative way, do the following steps. 

  • In the windows recovery environment click Troubleshoot and click on Advanced options and followed by click on command prompt. 
  • The Command prompt window will appear and type the following command and press enter. 
  • bcdedit/set{default}bootmenupolicy legacy
  • Now restart your PC and press F8 key continuously until the windows logo appears and which will take you to the Advanced boot options menu and choose the safe mode with networking and press enter. And finally safe mode will be activated. 

Methods to fix this System thread exception not handling error:

  1. Fixing the Driver 
  1. Press Windows logo + R to open the Run Window.
  2. Type the following command in the search bar “eventvwr” and press enter. 
  3. And click on System thread exception not handling error and which will allow you to view the driver. You can also filter the drivers based on date and time. 
  4. And to fix this driver fault, you need to update the driver to the latest version or roll them back to the previous version or just simply reinstall the driver to fix this problem. 
  1. Uninstall/ Reinstall the Display Driver

Most users reviewed that they’re getting BSoD error due to the display drivers. So now we are going to uninstall the display drivers and reinstall them to the latest version. If you’re getting trouble into your account then switch your PC to safe mode and access your windows.

Now press the Windows logo + R key which will open the Run window and type the following command in the search bar “devmgmt.msc” and press enter. And it will show you the graphics card installed in your computer. Before uninstalling the graphics card note down the name of the file because sometimes if you’re getting the same error again then you should need to reinstall them with the latest version manually from the browser. 

So you need to uninstall the graphics card installed and delete the driver software and press enter. If you’re still getting the same BSoD error then go to the official site and download the driver which is suitable for your PC. To know about your system specification then you need to press the windows logo + R to open Run and type the following “msinfo32” and press enter. And system properties will be shown in a window. 

  1. Updating the Graphics Driver

Press the windows logo + R to open Run and type the following “msinfo32” and press enter. And system properties will be shown in a window. Note down the system type and download the driver but if your PC does not have the external graphics card installed then your PC has an integrated display adapter embedded to the motherboard. So you need to go to the official site of the motherboard manufacturer and download the latest version for your graphics adapter. 

  1. Changing the Sound Driver to default

The sound driver fault will result in BSoD error and this occurs due to the driver C-media USB Audio class 1.0 and 2.0 DAC device driver. And updating this driver will not fix this problem so you need to uninstall the driver and restarting your PC will install the default sound card driver. 

Press the Windows logo + R key to open the Run window and type the following “devmgmt.msc” and press enter which will take you to the device manager. In the Device manager, under the sound class uninstall the driver which is named as the C-media USB Audio Class 1.0 and 2.0 DAC Device Driver. And Delete the Driver software for the device and click ok. Now, restart your PC and your PC will reinstall the sound card driver to the default. 

  1. Scanning and Repairing the System Files 

Sometimes system corrupted files will lead to system thread exception not handling. You can easily fix this problem by using the CHKDSK to check the corrupted file in your system if found. Now press the windows logo + R key to open the Run window and type the command “cmd” in the search bar. And press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to run as administrator. And type “SFC/scannow” and press enter which will take some time to scan your system file which will fix your system thread exception not handling BSoD error.

  1. Restoring your PC

Restoring your WIndows will be the final solution for fixing this system thread exception not handling BSoD error.

  1. Click on the start menu and click on Update & security option and click on Recovery. 
  2. And there three types of different options are shown one-by-one and firstly, click on reset this PC option which will return your PC to the preview build and advanced startup. And the advanced startup will boot your USB drive or drive and roll back to the previous version of the OS.
  3. And under the reset option, click on Keep my files or eliminate everything and if you would like to maintain your file and data which will roll back to the default and it will uninstall the event.
  4. And click on Only remove file or remove files and clean out the driveway will eliminate everything from the previous step. Or if you’re giving your PC to someone then it is difficult to delete your Documents and files one-by-one just simply select the option only remove files and clean out the driveway which will roll back your System to the previous version of OS. 
  5. And now you need to click on the reset option. To solve the system thread exception not handling BSoD error.
