Hyundai Xcent:
The famous automaker took a step into the world of compact sedans with the Hyundai Xcent . Although the car was pitted against industry dominators like Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze, the Xcent did a great job at withholding Hyundai’s reputation. The hatchback offers the ARAI-rated fuel efficiency is quite brilliant at 25.8kmpl. The automaker has given the Amaze the reputation of one of the most fuel efficient cars in the country. The car offers mileage of 15.2kpl in the city, and 20.8kpl on the highway. The 1498cc, 4 cylinder engine offers a max power of 98.6bhp. Priced between Rs 5.97 and 7.54 lakh, Honda Amaze is actually a pretty great and affordable car.
Chevrolet Beat:
The Chevy Beat has broken quite a few records with its popularity. Considering the fact that the Beat is one of the widely sold Indian compact cars with the smallest capacity engine, you may wonder why it is not on the top of this list. In the city, the Beat offers a mileage of 16kpl, but the small 936cc engine is a bit of a letdown with mileage of 19.1 kmpl. The car is reasonably priced at Rs 4.77-5.99 lakh.
Tata Indigo eCS:
As the pioneer in the compact sedan segment, the Indigo eCS has always been considered quite a fuel efficient car. It has a ARAI rating of 25kmpl, and that is as good as it can get. The 1396cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine offers a decent mileage of 15.3kpl in the city and 19.6kpl on the highways. The car is priced between Rs 5.38 and 5.89 lakh, which is quite a decent budget for the middle class.
Tata Indica:
Since the time of launch, Tata Indica has offered a stellar performance, be it in terms of fuel efficiency or power generation. The car has an ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 25kpl. Despite its old design, the Indica offers a decent mileage of 15.3kpl in the city and 19.3kpl on the highways. The car is priced between Rs 4.39 and 4.80 lakh, which is quite cheap compared to other cars in this segment.
